Wouldn’t it be great to have real examples of insulation, lighting, solar and heat pumps that you can touch and see that could come to you?
This is the idea behind the PowerHouse, a tiny home on wheels that can take energy education and outreach on the road! The PowerHouse contains interactive exhibits on energy efficiency, renewable heating, solar, lighting, air quality, appliances and DIY actions, and can be used to engage the general public at community events as well as schools.
The PowerHouse is managed by Get Your GreenBack Tompkins, with additional staffing support from Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Smart Energy Choices program.
We aim to use the PowerHouse to reach hundreds of thousands of residents and students over the coming years, and help connect them to the resources, contractors, and programs that can help them make their own homes more efficient and powered by clean energy.
